WELCOME
Hello there! Welcome to Redefining Healthy. I’m Danielle, the happy, healthy foodie behind this virtual kitchen. I was born and raised in New Jersey, but moved to Nashville for college where I developed a passion for fitness and cooking. I graduated from Vanderbilt with a BA in Communications and Medicine, Health, & Society, and I am also certified as a Holistic Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Now I'm back up north where I graduated from Columbia University with a masters degree in Nutrition Education received my Registered Dietitian (RD) license.
MY PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is founded on a mostly plant-based diet with occasional whole food animal products. More often than not, health foods get a bad rap for being overpriced, lacking flavor, and downright weird looking. However, by focusing on the quality of the foods and how they make us feel, rather than labeling them "good" or "bad" can change your mindset around food. It will allow you to start eating intuitively, focusing on your body's natural cues. One of my biggest goals is to redefine the word healthy, as it is not a one size fits all approach like so many on social media want you to believe. I want to provide you with the tools to make decisions for your personal healthiest self, both physically and mentally. Eating "healthy" should not be all consuming, restrictive, or isolating. I want to provide options to show that nutritious foods and meals that are simple, delicious, and affordable that can seamlessly be integrated into your lifestyle.
When I’m not sampling every food at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, I love running with my jack russell terrier, Lilly, experimenting in the kitchen, going to the newest workout class, and traveling. I’m so excited to get to know all of you and am honored to be a part of your journey to better health inside and out! Please check out the contact page to send suggestions and feedback.
